What is Formula Student?

Formula Student (FS) is the most important student motorsport competition in Europe. Endorsed by renowned engineers and companies such as Bosch, Land Rover, Jaguar, and Mercedes Benz, the competition has been driving young engineers to innovate and train in the world of motorsport for over 30 years.

The event brings together more than 600 student teams from over 50 countries, creating the perfect scenario for them to demonstrate and evaluate their abilities when tasked with delivering a complex and integrated product in the demanding environment of a motorsport competition. It also provides visibility for students, as companies in the industry bet on young talents from the competition. For these companies, Formula Student is the starting point for university students to gain experience in the fields of engineering, communication, journalism, and other related areas.

Throughout the season, students must work under pressure and very efficiently. Being part of the team not only involves designing, creating, and building a single-seater car but also managing the costs associated with each task that makes it possible. Additionally, they must consider team promotion, communication strategies, and marketing plans to ensure the success of such a large-scale project. This is why the purpose of the competition is to simulate a real-world situation where, on one hand, engineers develop a prototype that will be evaluated both theoretically, in terms of technological development and costs, as well as the car’s performance on the track. On the other hand, a business plan will be presented, focused on the feasibility study of a company that would be created in the world of motorsport and automotive competition
